How Do I Store My Soap?

As our soaps are plant based, we do suggest you let your soap vent/breathe after each use and not to let your bar of soap sit in puddles of water.  Our soaps need a bit of care as they do not have any sulphates or artificial ingredients keeping them alive.  Care after use in this way will help to extend the shelf life of your soap.  The next day you should turn your soap over to prevent a ‘soggy bottom’.  Using soap care correctly should extend the life of your soap up to 8/10 weeks. Of course this is dependent on use.

Are All Handcraft Soaps The Same?

No they are not. It is all down to what you prefer.  Some soaps are made with fragrance, some are made with essential oils.  Mica Colorants maybe used in soaps, like bright green, purple. Some may have colorants from vegetables or earth clays. Soaps may come in different shapes and sizes, again all down to preference. Soaps include many oils and butters.  Some carry animal fat some are plant based.  It’s the same with how you like your chocolates. All down to personal preference.

There are 2 soap processes that I am aware of, cold process and hot process soap making.  One Aromatherapy Co. handcrafts in the traditional way of cold processed soaps.  Soap making has been around, according so soaphistory.net since 2800 BC. The first soap makers were Babylonians, Mesopotamians, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. All of the soaps were made by mixing fats, oils and salts.

According to the cleaninginstitute.org during the same time period, Archeologists have found soap-like material in historic clay cylinders. These cylinders were inscribed with what we understand as saying ‘fats boiled with ashes' which was a method of soap making.

At One Aromatherapy, our soaps are made with plant based ingredients in the cold processed method. 3 years of study, research has gone into understanding the soap process as well as which oils and butters complimented each other and were key for nourishing the skin.  We 'may' in the future have a small selection of products with honey added. This of course is not a Vegan ingredient and will not be offered at Vegan Events. Honey will be sourced locally and from a sustainable and respectable grower here in Wokingham. Honey has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that help to moisture the skin. The enzymes present in honey enables it to condition and soften from deep within.

Do You Use Palm Oil In Your Soap Formulation?

We do not use any part of the Palm tree, leaves, pulp, base or bark.  Absolutely none!  Palm Oil and Palm Kernel Products are known widely to be sustainably sourced, but we do not use Palm in our products.  Personally, it does not sit with our ethos. I am not interested.

Do Your Soaps Comply with the UK Cosmetic Safety Regulations?

All of our products carry a safety report for each product. We have used UK independent accessors. Our soap and salt products labels fully comply with all governing UK legislation. All of our labels carry the INCI naming standards that are requested by the government. We also have a documented good manufacturing process, data safety sheets and batch reports are created.  This is called a PIF - Product Information File.

How Do You Weigh Your Product?

One Aromatherapy Co. has purchased Trading Standards Scales which is a UK trading requirement. It was a hefty investment, but worth it.

Are Your Bath Salts Good Quality?

Yes, all three bath salts, Epsom, Dead Sea and Pink Himalayan Salts are purchased from Westlabs, UK. This company has been around for a very long time with a first class reputation in its field. I personally love how they feel on my skin.

Are Your Products Sources From Ethical Suppliers?

We source our products from UK suppliers that share the same ethos we do. We look for suppliers that care about sustainability, community and promote an ethical brand.

Will You Have A Soap Subscription In The Future?

Yes, we will have one in the near future with bespoke soap formulations only offered to subscribers.
